As I sat and pondered on
prompt today, I was drawn to mythology rather than the emergency service sirens.Day 5 Siren #tinywinterpoem
The soulful sound of the siren,
Calling on the waves.
The darkening skies of evening time,
Throw shadows Across the ocean.
She sits on the rocks as the waves roll and curl,
Singing her song in beautiful tones,
alluringly strong that the sailor could not resist her beguiling smile, her calling him to her.
Dangerously close to the rocks, he sails
Unable to see his fate, she pulls him in,
Calling the storm to her.
He has no choice, to late to reassess,
His boat shattered on the rocks,
His body broken,
His heart opened,
lungs filling with brine,
As he sinks to the depths,
Towards Oceanus.
He sees everything anew, he feels the pain of love,
With Persephone by his side,
The siren song drifts away and there’s is no more.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
With gratitude, until next time
